FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I reset my tracker?
lf your tracker is not responding, it may be fixed by restarting.
Open the battery door using the battery door tool and remove the battery. Wait 10 seconds. Place the battery back into the tracker with the + side facing up, and close the door. Your Zip will now be reset. You will see your tracker’s version number, followed by a series of Fitbit Smilies. When you tap your tracker, you should be able to navigate through the screens as you normally would.
How do I reinstall the battery?
Your Zip’s display is powered by a 3V coin battery, CR 2025. If your Zip won’t turn on, it may be due to a drained or misaligned battery.
To reinstall the battery in your Zip: Insert the battery door tool into the rear door slot of your Zip and turn it counter-clockwise to unlock the battery door. Remove the door and battery. Reinsert your battery with the positive (+) end facing up, and replace the battery door. Insert the battery tool and turn clockwise to lock the battery door. The door should be flush with the rear of the tracker.

A No, the Fitbit pedometer works by itself. You can download the Fitbit app on your phone or Bluetooth to your laptop to sync data from pedometer. The Fitbit app is user friendly and aesthetically pleasant so it’s fun to use.
-
A No you do not need a cell phone or computer. A computer is fun if you have one but you can use the fit bit as a stand alone mileage monitor or pedometer.
-
A I take 4 water based exercise programs a week and have a Fitbit Zip. I wear it faithfully and have had no trouble. While I do not “swim”, I do get it wet and have had no trouble.
-
A It can attach to most items of clothing and can attach to a wrist band but don’t think it would be comfortable or practical. My zip worked fine for 6-8 months but have to put in a new battery approximately every 2-3 weeks instead of the 6 months advertised. I like the fact that I can keep track of my steps on my phone so will continue to use this zip until I can find another brand to replace it. I’ve contacted the company but all they tell me is that they know there is a problem and they’ Working on it. Check out the reviews...after I changed the battery twice (in 3 weeks), I looked at the reviews and saw there are a lot of people with the same complaint. Maybe the watches are better
-
A No it will not fall off, but I wouldn't buy that type.! The batteries have only lasted about 15 days. It advertises for battery life of at least a month.
-
A Mine has never skipped a step I have used it for 3 years and walked more than 9,000 miles. Unfortunately it does not count steps when you are activate on a bicylce which I ride 3,000 miles per year.
-
A On the Fitbit website, the price is $59.95 for all available colors.
-
A I think the app will do this, BUT I don't know that it will add the totals together. You have to ask yourself why you want 2 devices on the account
-
A The unit itself comes out of the silicone clip - so you could wear it on your wrist if you purchased a band that it fit into. I'd be afraid of losing it by just using the clip on an existing wristband. https://www.amazon.com/WoCase-Accessory-Wristband-Bracelet-Collection/dp/B00Y264L7Q
-
A Yes it will!
-
A It should because you have movement in your body. I clip mine to my pants pocket during the day. It seems to pick up every step or movement I make. Love it
-
A I wear mine on my bra and I believe it track fine.
-
A Yes you do... You can use it without one but then it resets randomly because the inner clock is not set-up. I wouldn't spend $ on this if you do not have computer access to set it up
-
A Yes. It does show the time
-
A This item is not waterproof. It is sweat, rain and splash proof.
-
A No. Fitbit does not sell this part. You have to buy a new zip, or ebay has a large selection of broken fitbits selling for parts. It's a shame the company doesn't sell this.
-
A No. It was easy to install the battery that came with the device, I've had it for a few months and the batter is still 100%.
-
A No it does not track your sleep.
-
A None displayed on Zip. Has memory display on iPhone galaxy or computer app link. I have mine linked to under armor and get a weekly display of activity, steps, calories burned. Can go back months on UA link. Has charts showing comparison week to week.
-
A No the zip does not track sleep
-
A I have had my fitbit zip for over a week. I am pleased to tell you it has never fallen off my bra or shirt. I do not trust putting it on my jeans. It is a little work opening it up to hook on my clothes. I am not worried about losing it!
-
A I am not a woman and therefore don't wear a bra. However, it is my understanding that it will clip anywhere. I clip mine to the inside of my pants pocket - that way it is secure and I don't run the risk of hitting it on something. The rubber case will keep it dry on your body so no problems with sweat. Just don't jump into the pool with it on
-
A I have had it both in my pocket and clipped to my pants and walked through the detectors and nothing has gone off. One time, in China, they hand-wanded me and then asked me to take it off. I travel a lot though and that was the only time I needed to remove it.
-
A The time was set by Fitbit. Yes, the time is automatically reset at midnight. You need to use the dongle to sync the device with your online dashboard.
-
A Download the app onto your ipad or iphone and sync. I mostly use my iphone.
-
A Yes, the FITBIT has connectivity with the Kindle.
-
A I had the same problem and contacted Fitbit. They replaced my Zip since there was a problem with the connectors. Excellent customer service.
-
A Yes, mine is synced to my laptop, tab & phone!
-
A I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but it automatically resets to zero at midnight every night.
-
A It should sync with that phone just fine
-
A Yes it works great with the Android app.
-
A It comes with a clip you can also buy them separately.
-
A No. You dont have to. Once you clip it or attach it to your shirt it will stay there. Dont forget to take it out though when you are done. I once forgot it and i found it washed in my washing machine with my shirt. But it still works.
-
A The distance is calculated based n your stride and the number of steps you are taking.
-
A The more batteries I put in it, they don't last as long. I have been to their help page, and it is an apparent problem. I performed the update with each battery replacement, and have even turned off some of the capabilities (like calories burned and time), and the last battery lasted only 2 days. One post stated the more 'other' wifi dependent devices this thing comes into contact with, the shorter the battery life. We can't help that these days, and if this is a problem for this sort of device, it's an epic fail. Loved it brand new. Tired of it by the battery issues. Amazon sells the Energizer CR2025s (recommended as the battery best for prolonged life in their battery blog) in 10 packs for less than one in a drug store. Data is lost at battery change, so be aware of all this when buying.
-
A Will these sync with a Samsung 10.1 note
-
A Yes you can in a variety of colors
-
A Yes. It will measure steps and calories burned for any activity you do.
-
A I find that wearing on my belt is best. I have tried it on the pocket of sweat pants and I did not get accurate readings as it was too loose. The bra is a common area for women but that makes checking the step count a bit awkward but if you are syncing to your phone you can check your steps through the application so there is no need to look at the device. Note that it is not water proof or water resistant though mine has survived a trip through the washer, just dried it out and stuck it in rice for a day and it came back to life.
-
A Yes it comes with a battery
-
A I have never put mine in water but I was ask mfg. that question.
-
A It keeps track of Distance, steps, calories burned. Not pace. When you use the app to upload the days info it will give you the active minutes it tracked. Say if you were walking for 30 minutes it will give you that.
-
A Hi Andrea, with Fit bit; and if you go to your Dashboard, you can count the calories you eat by logging in the food that you take in for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. As far as the calories that you burn, this is done by the activity; ie. if walking it goes by steps taken. If you are spinning you log in the activity separetly and log the time and speed that you are working out at. You can log in activity under the activity tab. I hope this answered your question. If there is any other questions I will try to assist. The fit bit counts motion from waist to foot- so it counts the motion taken in that manner. Make sure when you clip it on, it is facing with the screen towards your body or even next to your skin at your waist. I use a stair stepper besides the treadmill and it has not probblem calculating that. I will try my stationary bike and let you know- OK it does not count strides on bike. I tested it on my Eliptical it does count but I think its because you are making the motion from waist to foot.
-
A I have a couple different color cases. They sell them separately
-
A Your Fitbit is probably set for the wrong time zone. This you have to fix within your account - you can't do it on the device itself. On my iPhone, I open the app, choose "Account" and then "Advanced Settings." The 5th option is the Time Zone. Or, you can set it to Auto Time Zone.
-
A it stays on 24/7 sleeps when not moving no switches battery good for +6 mos.enjoy
-
A Sure as long as you clip it to your pocket or belt. I know women who clip it to their bras. I usually clip it on the inside of a pocket. The Zip easily attaches to your clothing. Not sure if the wrist band version of Fitbit would work for you.
-
A The zip retains your info for quite some time. Not sure exactly how long, but I've never synced and found I've missed info.
-
A Your tracker will reset each night at midnight, and all of your data will reset to zero. Your minute-to-minute data will be stored in your tracker for up to 7 days without syncing. A daily summary of your activity will be stored for up to 30 days.
-
A The case came with it and it clips on but I keep mine on my shirt or tee collar...my husband kept his on his pants pocket and almost list it.
-
A Not too sure what you mean? It has a clip molded into the case. You can't see it from that picture but it clips very securely
-
A No, I don't think so, because I believe it works off of arm, leg movement. To be totally honest I attach mine to my bra strap or on my shoe, depending on what kind of shoe I'm wearing. I hope this helps.
-
A Fitbit measures your rate of steps as "lightly active, fairly active and very active." It counts the amount of steps in a period of time and rates those minutes accordingly. So it definitely knows the difference between strolling and running.
-
A I don't know, I have an apple phone..sorry
-
A You need Internet connectivity to connect to fitbit.com. However, the device itself communicates to your computer via a dongle, provided in the box when you buy the fitbit. The online interface provides context for the data collected. Way cool.
-
A It is to open the battery case. Put the little flat piece in the slot in the back and twist, and it easily opens the back to put the battery in.
-
A I have a kindle fire hd & my fitbit zip does synch with it. Love my fit bit.
-
A It will immediately show you how many steps taken, how many calories burned and how many miles traveled. It even has a digital clock. Everything starts over after midnight. You will see that upon waking whether you were wearing the Fitbit or not as you slept, that you have burned calories. I think it takes an average and figures it out from there. When you are done with your run, go to your computer and sync it. That's what I like about the Fitbit. You can monitor yourself whenever you want which I am always doing!
-
A The other answers are correct: the nickel would not come in contact w/ your skin; you can also clip the Fitbit on your pocket so it would not touch you at all.
-
A Did you get your cover replaced? Fitbit support is FANTASTIC. My replacement case was received 3 days after I ordered it.
-
A You don't set your steps -- it records them automatically.
-
A I had a pedometer, and it was great- it helped me to get in the habit of doing 10K steps/day. It didn't compare to the Fitbit, though. The Fitbit is smaller, for one. It tracks calories more accurately- and actually tracks all day long, instead of just what you burn from exercise. My other pedometers only tracked what I burned from walking. I love how this syncs to my Fitbit app, and also to my FitnessPal app. I've lost 15 pounds in 2 months by doing this instead of my old pedometers. Also, my husband has used 3 different pedometer apps for his phone, and none are very accurate at ALL. You CAN use another pedometer or a fitness app on your phone. I just prefer the accuracy of the Fitbit for when it really counts.
-
A certainly, that's where I wear it when I don't have a belt loop to put it on. I faster it to the bra strap.
-
A It takes a 3V Lithium battery #CR2025. I bought it at Wal-Mart in the jewelry section.
-
A Each school district can set its own guidelines. I would recommend talking with the school principal and see what his/her thoughts are first.
-
A It syncs using Bluetooth 4.0. It doesn't work with my Droid Razr. It does work with Samsung galaxy4 and iPhone 5. The app works on my phone for information and food logging purposes though. I think they're working on making it compatable with more Android devises in future.
